Putnam Uses Stimulus Funds to Upgrade
Sewage and Storm Drainage
The Winfield Municipal Building Commission will receive a $2 million loan
through the U.S. Department of Agriculture for storm water drainage and road
repairs to the area’s four largest subdivisions. Mayor Ron Stone said that the
drainage projects have been planned for about four years but have lacked funding
to complete.
The Putnam Public Service District will receive $400,000 for the design
phase of a wastewater project to extend sewer service to about 430 residents
along WV Route 34, U.S. 60 and Kilgore and Rocky Step Road. The wastewater
project will also upgrade the existing sewer system in the Marina Park area. The
PSD expects the total cost to be about $8 million for the sewer projects.
