Diamond Electric to Invest $6 Million in Eleanor Plant
Up to 55 new jobs could be created in Eleanor as
Diamond Electric Mfg. Corporation (www.diamond-us.com)
plans to invest $6 million in its Eleanor ignition coil plant after winning a
new contract with Ford Motor Co. The company now has about 120 employees.
David Bagnall, Diamond spokesman, says the plant will begin producing ignition
coils for Ford’s 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine and 3.5-liter, 6-cylinder engine
in September 2010.
He also said that the loans will allow the company to invest in equipment needed
to accommodate the Ford contract.
The West Virginia Economic Development Authority gave preliminary approval in
October for a $3 million loan for the company. The West Virginia Infrastructure
and Jobs Development Council has also approved an additional $3 million loan to
the company at a recent meeting.
