PCDA Revises 5-year Economic Development Strategy

The revision of the 5-year Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy 2010-2015 is now underway. It is the second revision of the plan for economic development activities that was originally developed by the staff in 1999. The plan provides a “roadmap” for success in economic development for the agency.

Included in the plan are discussions of past demographic trends, present opportunities and the plan. The plan is based on several concepts:

• That we will encourage new understanding of problems and opportunities that are present today and those that will prevail in the future and continue to be optimistic with whatever lies ahead for the County.

• That strategic thinking and action is important and that the process does not end with the completion of a strategic plan.

• That the process of economic development must remain fluid and continue to adapt to the community needs while holding true to the goal of building a sustainable diverse economy.

• That we choose to become more competitive, by improving the product, being innovative and allowing competition.

The 5-year plan also includes a one-year action plan that is updated annually to insure that the development authority is focusing on efforts that will assure continued growth and stability for the county’s economy.
