Large Turnout for RIC Teays Valley Traffic Study

In the photo at left, Scott Ferry, RIC Senior Planner (second from right) answers questions from Zac Taylor, Charleston Gazette Reporter, as members of the public review the project maps.

A larger crowd than expected attended a public meeting on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Mountain View Elementary School to comment on needed improvements to Teays Valley traffic in the coming years. The Regional Intergovernmental Council (RIC) has contracted with URS Corporation to undertake the traffic study to determine what improvements can be made to improve traffic flow in the fast-growing Teays Valley area.

The project is part of an effort to aid traffic problems in congested areas. Teays Valley residents who visited were able to talk with planners about their concerns and also to complete written suggestion forms with their comments.

In the photo at right, Keith Johnson, Director Planning & Traffic, URS Corporation, listens to concerns from a number of local residents. Citizens were invited to write their concerns on large maps for planners to investigate as the planning progresses.

The planning is expected to take approximately one year before the study is completed.
