The annual Board of Directors and Membership meeting of the Polymer Alliance Zone was held Wednesday May 4, 2011 at the Parkersburg Country Club in Vienna, WV. Master of Ceremonies for this year’s event was Mike Basile of Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC.

Mr. Basile also introduced the featured speaker at the luncheon, U.S. Senator Carte P. Goodwin. Mr. Goodwin shared stories with the audience about his short time as U.S. Senator after the passing of West Virginia’s then Senior Senator Robert C. Byrd. He told of being in awe of being a member of the U.S. Senate, and of having been thrown very quickly into the position of voting on issues immediately after taking office. He shared that it was a eye-opening experience.

PAZ President Karen Facemyer gave attendees an update of PAZ’s activities during the past year and discussed the plastics-related trade shows and other actions of the staff and volunteers.

Outgoing Chairman Sam Minardi conducted the meeting and Brian Anderson (Chair-Elect) was introduced and said he looks forward to the upcoming year.
