Trinity
Resources is a manufacturer of underground rescue chambers headquartered in Poca,
West Virginia. Rescue chambers or safety shelters are mandated by state and
federal agencies and are required by law to be used in underground coal mines.
Safety shelters must be able to sustain life for a period of four days (96
hours) by providing food, water and breathable air for each individual miner in
the shelter.
Led by Pastor Jack Henry, Trinity
began conceptually working on the design of the rescue chamber in 2006. After
the Sago mine disaster in Buckhannon, WV claimed the lives of twelve miners, the
motivating factor was to make the most dependable, durable and safest rescue
chamber on the market. Thus, the Guardian Angel was developed to offer coal
companies and operators a rescue chamber that would be unmatched in the
industry.
The
Guardian Angel is a complete steel structure that has been engineered to surpass
all of the requirements set forth by MSHA (Mine Safety Health Administration)
under CFR 30 Part 7. Under these guidelines, any safety shelter used in
underground coal mines will have to eventually meet the standards in regards to
pressure testing, fire testing and ambient temperature ratings to name a few.
The Guardian Angel has passed all tests that fall under this code of federal
regulations. Currently Trinity is working on completing the application to
submit to MSHA for review, which would result in having the first certified
shelter in the nation. The Guardian Angel is approved by the State of West
Virginia Mine Safety office.
Trinity also leads the industry for
innovation and technology by offering the Guardian Angel with a patent pending
mobile feature that would assist coal companies in managing costs by being able
to remotely and safely move the shelter when needed.
Manufacturing of the units will be
performed in Nitro and Eleanor, West Virginia. Once the mandatory timelines
come, the company foresees a robust need for the Guardian Angel that will in
turn help create jobs in our area.
