PCDA's Project Director Completes Leadership Putnam County Course
Heather Vanater, pictured left with guest speaker Judge O.C. Spaulding, completed the Leadership Putnam County Course sponsored through the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce. In 2009, Leadership Putnam County celebrates its 20th year. The program extends the opportunity for participants to be educated through nine on-site classes that help them understand the community more thoroughly. This year, 13 participants were recognized for completing the program at a breakfast reception at Sleepy Hollow Country Club on Friday, June 12th.
The group attended classes throughout the county recognizing the services offered by the Putnam County Library; Epiphany Consultants; The Performance Group; the Putnam County criminal justice system; Putnam Public Service District and Putnam County Parks and Recreation. The group was also given presentations at the Putnam County Courthouse by various county agencies; county schools and learned about local colleges and universities. Tours were offered at selected locations including a tour of the John Amos Power Plant, learned about manufacturing economic development during a tour of the Toyota Motor Mfg., WV production facility and toured and learned about Health care and fitness at facilities including CAMC Teays Valley Hospital, Family Care, YMCA and Teays Valley Physical Therapy.
2009 participants are: Angel Bannister, Tri-County YMCA; Jane Burdette, Strayer University; Jonathan Clark, Sleepy Hollow Golf Club; Mandy Curry, City National Bank; Seth Hansen, Verizon Wireless; Tammy Meiners, AEP John Amos; Brian Moore, Dinsmore and Shohl, LLP; Chuck Nuckles, City National Bank; Dane Ryan, Triad Engineering; Teresa Sperandio, Eagle Research Corp; Heather Vanater, Putnam County Development Authority; Charles H. Zuspan Jr., AEP John Amos; and Angela Watson, Putnam County Title Insurance Agency, LLC. The photo to the right shows those in attendance at the breakfast reception on June 12th.
The development authority would like to congratulate all the participants and to thank the Chamber of Commerce for hosting Leadership Putnam County. Heather Vanater admitted “The knowledge I gained from this course exceeded my expectations and I have more respect and appreciation for the people that help Putnam County continue to thrive”.
