February 28, 2001 - The Putnam County Development Authority, Inc. will serve as host to eleven (11) Russian Local Government Officials Thursday afternoon (Mar. 1) in the county. The visitors are sponsored by the U.S. Agency for International Development and the training program has been designed and implemented by the Center for International Understanding at Bluefield State College.
The Development Authority's Executive Director, Gary Walton, and PCDA President Wayne Bennett will provide guests a tour of some of the industrial parks in Putnam County and give a brief presentation about the development authority and its challenges and opportunities.
The visitors are expected to arrive in Putnam County at approximately 3-3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 1 and after brief introductions, guests will be given a brief presentation followed by a tour of industrial parks then dinner.
Gary Walton, Executive Director, said that "we welcome the opportunity to host international visitors and hope this visit will bring about a better understanding and lasting relationship for our Russian visitors."
