BB&T THE LATEST INVESTOR IN PCDA'S 2001 FUND RAISING EFFORT

August 29, 2001 - BB&T is the latest investor in PCDA's 2001 fund raising effort, according to Gary Walton, Executive Director. "Almost $40,000 has been raised during this campaign," Walton said, "we hope to do even better next year." "David Call has been instrumental in assisting in the fund raising efforts. Not only that, he has supported the industrial expansion and recruitment efforts of the Authority," according to Walton. BB&T's David Call of the Teays Valley branch also serves on PROTEC's Board of Directors.

The Putnam Regional Organization for Technical & Economic Development (PROTEC) is the fund-raising arm for the development authority and works to raise funds for the organization's marketing efforts. Since 2000, the PCDA has been involved in direct marketing efforts such as participation in the West Virginia Mission to Japan 2000, Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) trade show in Detroit, MI, SEMA aftermarket trade show in Las Vegas and other efforts designed to help spread the word about the excellent labor force, industrial sites and local and state assistance available in Putnam County and West Virginia.

Within the next few months, the authority will be updating its current marketing plan as well as the long-term strategic plan. "Any strategic plan should be something that is constantly changed and updated," according to Walton. "As economic conditions change and as sites, parks and buildings become available or occupied, we must adjust our efforts to reflect these and other changes," Walton noted. "More support is always needed from our existing business community, more jobs and income for Putnam County residents means more business for all of our businesses." Walton concluded.
