November 15, 2006 - Excavation equipment from Kanawha Stone Company have begun the preliminary site work for the new Wal-Mart at Exit 34 (Hurricane Exit). Cleveland Construction Company of Mentor, Ohio is the General Contractor for the construction project for the new almost 190,000 sq. ft. super center on a 27+ acre site just north of the Hurricane Exit along Hurricane Creek Road.
Cleveland Construction subcontracted the site work portion of the project to Kanawha Stone Company. Kanawha Stone is headquartered in the Rock Branch Industrial Park in Poca, Putnam County, West Virginia.
Kanawha Stone Company is also currently working on the construction of the new segment of U.S. Route 35 that will connect the new Crooked Creek Interchange with West Virginia Route 34.
