November 22, 1999 - The PCDA continues to update its world wide web pages. Controversial? Maybe. Depends on who you ask. A new link from the main page entitled "REGIONAL TRANSPARK" will take you to the Lincoln Economic Development Authority's Regional Transpark pages.
Visitors can read background information about the proposed Lincoln County site for a new airport facility. On March 2, 1999, the West Virginia Public Port Authority unanimously selected a site in Lincoln County, WV, about 4 miles south of the Hurricane Interchange (Exit 34) on Interstate 64.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved a Financial Feasibility Study for the Lincoln County site. Critics of the airport question the cost/benefit of building a new Regional Airport. This study will provide answers to some of these questions. The study - approved in October - should be completed in about 100 days.
