About PCDA
The
Putnam County Development Authority, Inc. was established in 1961 by the Putnam
County Commission. The Authority is a non-profit corporation
(quasi-public) with activities directed by a 21-member board of directors.
The Authority is the lead development agency in Putnam County, West Virginia and works very closely with the Putnam County Commission, the West Virginia Development Office, and many other state and regional agencies and departments to assure that businesses have a one-stop information resource.
The corporation has assets of over $15,000,000 and operates three business and industrial parks. The industrial parks include the Eleanor Industrial Park and Putnam Business Park on U.S. Route 35 at Fraziers Bottom along the Kanawha River. Phase I of Putnam Business Park was completed in Spring 2005. Work is now underway on Phase II. The Authority also owns a 45 acre business park site - Hurricane Business Park - at Exit 34, Hurricane, West Virginia. Twenty-five acres of the property was sold to Wal-Mart in 2006 as the site for a new Wal-Mart Super Center and construction is underway.
PCDA has two employees and also serves as a clearinghouse for Revenue Bond Issues within the county. The Authority also prepares Site/Building packages, works to retain and expand existing businesses (primarily industrial), and prepares marketing and prospect proposals.
Contributions to the Corporation are not fully charitable or tax deductible but donations may be made to PROTEC, INC., a private, non-profit (501(c)(3) tax exempt organization for the benefit of the Authority.
